Pool decks beside the seawall
On canal lots, the strip of deck closest to the seawall is where problems show first. If fill behind the wall slowly washes out through a crack or a failing joint, the pavers above it start to dip, and no amount of re-leveling will hold until the cause is fixed. Before we rebuild or reset a deck near the water, we look for signs of that kind of loss and tell you plainly what we see.
If the wall itself needs attention, that’s a job for a marine contractor or engineer, and it should come first. Once the wall is sound, we excavate the soft areas, rebuild the base with compacted aggregate in layers and set solid edge restraints so the deck can’t creep toward the water. We slope the surface away from the pool, and we keep pavers, sand and debris out of the canal while we work.
