Estero is one of the youngest municipalities in Southwest Florida — the Village of Estero incorporated in 2014 — and much of it is made up of master-planned neighborhoods built over the last few decades. Many homes here were delivered with a plain concrete or builder-grade paver driveway and a modest pool deck. Our Estero clients usually want to upgrade those: replacing a stained concrete driveway with pavers, widening it for an extra car, extending a pool deck, or adding a patio and walkway that tie the outdoor spaces together.

RL Installers is based on Davis Boulevard in Naples, and Estero is a straightforward drive north on I-75. We plan each Estero project around three things that matter here: your community’s architectural guidelines, the existing builder layout and elevations, and the way water drains across lots that were engineered as part of a larger subdivision. Get those right and the new hardscape looks like it belongs, because it was designed to fit the neighborhood from the start.

  • Grading that respects your lot’s engineered drainage

What to know in Estero

01

Working within Estero HOA guidelines

Most Estero communities, from Grandezza and West Bay Club to the neighborhoods around The Brooks, have an architectural review process. Expect to submit a site plan showing the new driveway or deck footprint, the paver manufacturer and color, the pattern and the border. Some communities limit color palettes or call for a specific edge detail so the streetscape stays consistent. We help you prepare that package and, if the committee has questions, adjust the plan before anything is scheduled.

Guidelines also shape the job itself: approved work hours, gate check-in for crews and deliveries, where materials can be staged and how the street must be left at the end of each day. We confirm those details up front, so neighbors aren’t inconvenienced and your project doesn’t stall over a rule nobody mentioned. Our bilingual team keeps communication clear with you, the management company and the gatehouse.

02

Upgrading builder-grade driveways and pool decks

A typical Estero upgrade starts with removing the existing concrete or worn pavers, checking the subgrade and building a new compacted base. Widening the driveway is common, and so is adding a contrasting border or a decorative apron at the street. Because the existing curb cut, sidewalk and garage slab set the elevations, we tie into them carefully so water still flows the way the lot was designed to drain.

On pool decks, homeowners often want more room for loungers and a dining table, or a deck that continues past the screen enclosure toward the lake or preserve view many Estero lots enjoy. We look at the cage footers, the pool coping and the drainage before designing an extension, and we recommend lighter, cooler pavers for surfaces that see bare feet all summer. Most pool deck installations take 5–10 days once work begins.

03

Drainage, soils and the rainy season in Estero

Estero subdivisions are built with engineered drainage: swales between homes, lake systems and set grades from the front of each lot to the back. New hardscape shouldn’t interfere with that. When we enlarge a driveway or patio, we keep swales open, avoid pushing water onto a neighbor’s lot and keep the slope running away from your foundation. That planning matters most during the summer rainy season, when afternoon storms test every surface.

Soils along the Corkscrew Road corridor and other inland areas can differ from the sandier fill found closer to Estero Bay, so we evaluate the subgrade on each site instead of assuming. Where a permit is required for your scope, we handle it with the Village of Estero or Lee County, depending on the address. And if an older paver area has settled or stained over the years, we can re-level, re-sand and seal it as part of the same project.

“RL Installers did an excellent job for the Vanderbilt Reserve HOA. They repaired and reset over half of the pavers on our pool deck, which were being affected by palm tree roots. They carefully removed the pavers, dug out all the roots, re-sanded and reset the pavers. The crew worked efficiently in extremely hot temperatures and were very polite and friendly. Rafael was easy to work with and provided the initial inspection and a very competitive proposal in a timely manner.”

FAQ

Estero: common questions

Do I need HOA approval to replace my driveway in Estero?

In most Estero communities, yes. Replacing a driveway or enlarging a pool deck changes the exterior of your home, so your HOA will usually want to review the plan, product and color first. We help you put the submission together and start once you have approval.

Can I widen my driveway?

Often, yes, within your community’s rules on driveway width and setbacks. Before proposing a wider layout, we check the guidelines, the location of utilities and irrigation, and how water drains along the side of the lot.

How long does an Estero driveway project take?

Most residential paver driveways take 3–7 days once materials are on site, depending on size, removal of the old surface and complexity. Pool decks typically take 5–10 days. HOA approval comes before that, so we suggest starting the conversation early.

Can you fix existing pavers too, or only install new ones?

Both. Along with new installations, we re-level sunken areas, reset pavers lifted by roots, refill joints with polymeric sand, clean stains and seal. Repairs are quoted after an on-site inspection.
